Remarkably, the A's no longer have the worst record in baseball.  After a recent 7-game win streak, they are now 19-52, percentage points ahead of the Royals, who are now 18-50 and on a 9-game losing streak.   We just saw last weekend that the Royals are also a pretty pathetic bunch--their pitching isn't as much of a disaster as Oakland's, but their lineup is terrible and Vinnie Pasquantino is now out for the season.  Both teams are projected to win about 43 games this season--we'll see if either or both of them can threaten the 1962 Mets.

Of course it had to be the A's to allow Domingo Germain to throw a perfect game.  Now 21-61, still on track to challenge the 1962 Mets.

The crazy thing for the A's is that they also have no one of real value to trade at the deadline to better their future. I guess Paul Blackburn if squint hard enough? but he's basically a swing man with career 5 ERA. The A's are in sad shape.

Yeah, they held on to Brent Rooker too long and he has come crashing down to earth, hitting .165 with only 2 HR in his last 30 games.
