Means with a scheduled rehab start for Norfolk tonight and hoping it's his last before getting activated to the major league roster.

I understand it's AAA, but man, if you would have told me he'd put up 1 ER over 9 IPs in his rehab starts, I would be ecstatic. We'll see how it translates to the Majors but very encouraging for not only this season but more so next season.

If he returns to his prior form, a rotation of Grayson, Bradish, Means and Dean plus potentially an above average (hopefully elite) guy that we trade for the in off-season could be really exciting.

Kremer as a 5th starter would be ideal.   I'd like to keep him around.

This is definitely his last rehab start, because his 30-day rehab period expires before he could make another start.  So, the O’s must activate him or option him to the minors after this.  Means threw his first rehab game on August 10, so the decision on where he goes must be made by Sept. 9, this Saturday.

Me too, he's now had back to back very nice seasons for a back of the rotation guy.

This is one of those instances where the use of the team “back of the rotation guy” makes no sense to me.   There are 119 pitchers in MLB (4 per team, essentially) who have thrown 90 innings or more.   Kremer ranks 63rd of all those pitchers in ERA.   In what world is that “back of the rotation?”   And by the way, he’s got a lot more than 90 innings.  He ranks 31st in MLB there, with 154.2.  IMO, he’s at least a very solid no. 3 starter.

If Kremer is your 5th-most valuable starting pitcher, you likely have elite starting pitching. Would be great to get there, but probably not reasonable to expect that to happen.

This is great info, Frobby.    I think you could see a case with having Rodriguez, Bradish, Means, and another added quality starter (which @The B&G suggested), you can picture Kremer as a #5.    And...that would be darn nice!
