I won’t poll this, but is there anyone who rather face the Royals than Tigers in a three game series?

These seem like the two most likely options next week. Neither lineup terrifies me.

Probably KC.   Detroit has that destiny magic thing going on

What combination of things need to happen to clinch WC#1 position?

Easiest paths are:

  • 2 more wins
  • 1 more win and 1 Tigers loss

After tonight, KC can only get WC1 if they win out and the O's lose out.

Detroit can only get WC1 if they go 4-1 and we lose out, or if they go 5-0 and we go 1-4.

For sure I would rather face KC than Detroit.  We just dropped 2 series to Detroit, and they will probably line up Skubal to pitch in game 1 of the playoffs.

Both teams won today, and KC has the tiebreaker over Detroit.  We need to win a couple more games to clinch home field in the wild card round, and we need to root for KC to get the 5th seed.

Absolutely want DET and not KC.  KC has a BA ten points higher, two great pitchers, Bobby Witt, JR and DET got really lucky in several game against us.  DET playing really well right now but KC is the tougher team.

i'm with you,i think detroit got lucky this past weekend against us,i just want the games to be here in baltimore

The Royals win a 3 way tie as well so if us, the Tigers, and Royals finished tied at 87-75 the Royals would get 4 seed.

So there is a lot to watch down this last week:

1) Cle can still get the 1 seed.

2) the WC teams and the order. The importance of this is that we hope Detroit and all have to keep using up there pitchers this weekend, making some of them either unavailable or not available until later in the series.

3) to go with #2…we need Minnesota to get back to winning. Keep pressure on them.

4) Os need 2 more wins. Goal should be that Saturday and Sunday..both Gunnar and Adley sit..give them 3 straight days off. If you have the 1st WC clinched by the Minnesota series, maybe you don’t play either at all..or maybe each gets 1 game at DH..something along those lines.
