Kevin Seitzer hitting coach?

I think Kevin Seiyltzer was the fall guy for a team that thought they were a championship team.

This guy has overseen more a decade of hitting in Atlanta, has been through developing and helping young batters succeed when the league adjusts.  Most importantly, he has a ring!

Atlanta has basically the same offensive philosophy as the Os.

The Braves have won 24 playoff games with Seitzer as their hitting coach from 2015 - 2024, including the 2021 World Series. Over that same period, we have won no playoff games.  Their version of our offensive philosophy looks much better in October than ours does.

Hitting coaches win playoff games?

Message boards have the best ideas for prospective hitting coaches.

Why have message boards? Are we trying to think about our team and discuss how they could better?

If not, what can be discussed?

Everything besides hitting and pitching coaches

Actually, if the Os were to move on from their hitting coaches, this is precisely the guy they would hire.

Atlanta mirrors our approach in many ways.  And he has worked with a ton of young hitters.

And he has a relationship with our pitching coach.

So this is worth discussing because despite the craziness of Os social media, the Os are rightfully not going to change their approach to hitting since they put up great numbers across the board outside of walk%.

Since they aren’t going to change their approach, a coach that preaches similar things is what they would look for…and Seitzer fits that perfectly.

TBH, I don't know what wins playoff games since I support a team that doesn't win any of them. Watching these playoffs, I am still getting used to the idea that hitters from other teams can actually come through. Even the much maligned Giancarlo Stanton can do it now.

But, we have a good offensive philosophy.  So we could always make no changes and just assume things will work out better next year.  We seem more comfortable with the "minimal or no changes" approach to things anyway.
