The challenge system is a band aid. Better than the current system, but slows the game down with challenges. It exposes the umpires when they miss a call. The full blown system is seamless and the umpire is still getting paid behind home plate, calling plays at the plate, foul tips, HBP, etc.
A lot of you guys are students of hitting. Any idea why Holiday struggled so much to hit MLB level hitting? FWIW, I get that MLB pitchers are better and throw nasty stuff. My question is why a guy who was so successful at such a young age, which means to me that he is exceptionally gifted with the bat in his hands, seemed to be completely lost at the plate? Was it the high leg kick? Was it the overwhelming pressure of expectations? To put it simply, why didn't he hit and will he likely be able to figure it out next year?
Anyone have a nuanced opinion?
Yamamoto and Ohtani seem to have helped their playoff run. I would call that a bit of a shakeup of the lineup on the LAD's part. But they seem like an odd comp for the Orioles.
Correct Cowser has to win AL ROY for the Orioles to get the bonus draft pick. Odds are looking good with Cowser getting this award, but I don't think it's a sure bet like Gunnar winning last season.
It's going to be next to impossible for Game 2 to live up to the 1st one. Good news is it doesn't have to and it still could be great. Just give me another Dodger win.
