Rangers void contract of IF Greene

The Rangers voided Khalil Greene's contract today because he has social anxiety issues to the degree that he is unable to report. I remember that some here were advocating Greene as a stop gap solution for SS proper to the addition of Izturis. I guess it is a good thing that we went in another direction (or he did).

I find stories like these to be awful and fascinating at the same time. Its a real shame that someone so blessed by physical talents is being debilitated by mental ailments. We tend to think of these guys as supermen and truly lucky, so when a mental issue brings one of them to his knees, it truly highlights just how powerful mental afflictions can be.

Here's to hoping he is able to effectively treat his anxiety and continue with his career in baseball.

As I recall, Zach Greinke had some mental health issues that were somewhat similar, and it would certainly appear now that he's been able to work them out. Hopefully the same will happen for Greene.

Sometimes there are reasons a player's performance falls off. Good Luck to Greene, here is hoping he gets healthy and returns to the game. A sad story.

I was an advocate of signing Greene. He'd take Andino's spot on the roster. Hopefully, this is just a temporary setback.

Wow. Khalil is one of my favorite players, and I was really looking forward to seeing him more now that he was in the AL. I sincerely hope he comes back from this, hopefully wearing a Baltimore jersey.
