You're talking to the wrong person here. I was loyal to Mussina to the last game he pitched in an O's uniform. I never desired to see him play for any other team.

Well, it's not hard to be loyal when an excellent pitcher is in his prime. But that's not that point. If he had stayed, would you be showing loyalty to him now? Or would you be saying the O's should try to ship him out whenever it suits them? Would you be going to OPACY to see him pitch?

If I still lived in Maryland, sure I'd go see him pitch. And I'd want him to stay an Oriole.

Ray Lewis is past his prime with the Ravens, but I personally would like to see him end his career with the Ravens and not some other team who never benefited from his accomplishments.

By 1998, Cal Ripken was past his prime, but I sure as hell didn't want to see him in any other uniform.

I liked Mussina. When he was with the Orioles, I really thought he would have at least one 20 win season, if not more, and that he would win a Cy Young. Maybe even throw a no-hitter. But I appreciated him all along as our Number one starter and I wanted to see him succeed with the Orioles.

Well, then, kudo's to you. I expect most of the people who are so mad at Moose would be nowhere to be found when it came to returning the loyalty.

EDIT: Correction, it's not that they'd be "nowhere to be found"... rather, I expect that we could find them right here, b*tching about Moose being an over-the-hill guy, and insisting that we dump him in the trash for a Grade-C prospect.

I never get this crap. It's ok to sign Free Agents, but the moment one leaves they become evil, pond-sucking scum

The funniest are the Red Sox fans who think of Johnny Damon as a "Traitor" for going to the Yankees. The Red Sox got Damon as a free agent, by offering the biggest amount of money.

That being said, I've certainly rooted against him whenever he's taken the mound for the Yankees. And I don't think someone his age is what we want for a rebuilding team. At least get a 30ish mid-career guy who might still be contributing in 2 or 3 years when we can contend. Guys like these low-30s guys that contributed to contenders this year: Josh Fogg, Jake Westbrook, Esteban Loaiza, Jeff Suppan. If we are going to get one vet, at least let's get one with a chance to be a contributor for 3 or 4 years and eat some innings.

Hey, he's the one who sold his soul. I simply observe what I see, and what I saw was a man with no loyalty to the fans who rooted for him and a man who chose to go to the team's biggest rival within the same division in the interests of more money and glory.

That being said, had Mussina signed with Cleveland, or any other team for that matter, I doubt I would have held much animosity towards the man. I likely would have wished him all the best, and wished him a swift return to Baltimore.

But once you lay down with the dogs, you get up with the fleas.
