Hope so! Matt Shaw already on the board for the Cubs with his first pro HR.

Was hoping to see him in the 4th. He will be done after the delay. He shoved in the 3rd. 5ks total in 3ip. 34 of 41 pitches for strikes. Solid outing.

Curve is 85/86. From angle doesn’t look like a lot of movement on curve and change. He his 95 a couple times but is effortlessly throwing 94. He’s got the frame for sure. He repeats his motion well. Looks like he is locating the FB where he wants. In, out, up, down.

Can someone tell me what Cowser needs to do better?

He stinks right now. My point is, that’s to be expected. It sure isn’t fun to watch, but to call it anything else than adjusting to a new league seems silly to me. -

Cowser was batting ~.130 & OPSing ~.500 after his first 44 ABs in AAA. I’ll continue to be patient. -
In hindsight the Judge pitch around(s) worked, but I’d like to see him attack more. It seems when he pitches around a feared batter it throws him off. I’d like to see him go after everyone just about the same. He was painting all night except against judge and then the batters immediately after. It looks like the pitch arounds throw off his mechanics a hair.

Why isn't Ortiz in Baltimore instead of Mateo?
emmett16 replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
His eye and OBP translated. He didn’t try to make things happen and change his approach. He let the game come to him. Similar to what Cowser is going through now (albeit with more struggles). No one is saying he is going to come up here and set the world on fire. That’s just not how it works. His defense is MLB ready and his bat is ready for the next adjustment. He will likely be better than Mateo at the plate and at least his equivalent in the field. Instead of writing mountains of paragraphs saying the same thing over and over, I’d suggest getting MiLB.TV & watching the games. When you can, take a trip to to go see him play in person. Watch him prepare before games, before ABs, and then watch his performance compared to the others on the team. Ortiz is a fantastic ball player regardless of what national outlets have written about him. Go watch him yourself and let us know your thoughts after watching him play a few games -
Arm slot changed a hair and he started to fill up the zone. I imagine the conversation went something like this “Grayson, you are filthy. Fill up the dang zone and stop trying to be cute.”

Where are all the GRod non-believers now?
-
I’m still high (medium-high) on both. You see the nasty stuff and then BOOM 4 pitch walk. Just so frustrating to watch. It looked like he was in for a good night before the walk fest. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Hall this year.

3 for 4 tonight. .345 BA .963 OPS. The man can hit. Cannot wait for the Henderson, Ortiz, Westburg IF

Yankees series: Let's be the team that slams the door on their season

Is it too much to ask for Cole to get bounced in the 1st and GRod throw a no-no? -
His 4 seamer makes me nervous. A splitter with same arm speed/arm action could make his 4 seamer play up. He’s had more success with it this year but his xwOBA is .369 - last year when it was getting crushed it was .370. Edit: my bad for derailing the thread. Back to Chayce

Salvador Perez comes to mind. He’s listed 6’3” 255. Your point that he isn’t done growing is true and we will see how that plays out. I think the larger point is his offensive potential. If it is elite level then he’s be best served at another position. Good problems to have. Can’t wait to see how it plays out. Watching Delmarva games is kinda hilarious when he is behind the plate. All these young tiny dudes look like midgets in the box when he stands up to throw the ball back to the pitcher.

That would be a devastating pitch for Baumann. Let’s hope it materialize over the next year.
-
He fits that mold of what they love and thrive at developing. I think now would be the time to float a 1 or 2 year contract and see if he bites. As you mentioned, I think he is going to thrive and his value is going to skyrocket.

Orioles related trade rumors and speculation leading up to the deadline
emmett16 replied to Roll Tide's topic in Orioles Talk
So by the predictive Aberdeen numbers you’d like to wager Westburg is going to outperform Gunnar moving forward? I’ll take that bet if it’s available. -
If Elias does very little at the deadline...
emmett16 replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
I expect them to do relatively very little at the deadline. Hope I’m wrong. -

The FO didn’t hand pick Hall or GRod(not sure how either count as a “failed prospect”). I’d say they knocked it out of the park with Bradish, Wells, Bautista, and Cano. I think this FO has earned the benefit of the doubt at this point. I remember around this time last year when we had 5 top 100 prospects and Gunnar and Adley were about to lose prospect status and folks were claiming it was all about the tank and first round picks. We have 8 now. -
Kjerstad in a small RF at OPACY will be solid IMO. I think his speed is a little underrated. Mayo is a huge target with wingspan and has +athleticism for a 1B. I agree they are the questions marks, but both are playing the least demanding defensive position. I think they can both grow into above average defenders at RF & 1B. The D up the middle is incredible.
-
That’s +defense all the way around the field with an insane amount of flexibility.
-
Have a sneaking suspicion they sign Fujinami.

Which players/prospects would you be okay with trading?
emmett16 replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
I forgot to include Grayson in the untouchables.
