  1. Fun Stat: If Galvis makes the play on that groundball and Paul Fry didn't allow both of Harvey's runners to score in Boston, Matt Harvey would have a 3.68 ERA through three starts with the O's. I've been impressed.
  2. That's what I'm saying! 2.70 ERA as an Oriole. Has only allowed 2 home runs over 119 BF during that time (mostly pitching at OPACY). Can go multiple innings. Dude is better than half our bullpen.
  3. Tigers select contract of Renato Nunez after Miguel Cabrera was placed on the 10 day IL with biceps strain. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31236211/miguel-cabrera-placed-10-day-il-biceps-strain-detroit-tigers-add-renato-nunez Good for Nunez. Happy to see him back in the bigs.
  4. The bullpen really hasn't done Lopez any favors. Everyone he leaves on base for them seems to score... That said, I'm ready to see Akin back in this rotation and I'm ready to see Lakins Sr. back in this bullpen.
  5. Garceau is boring to me. Palmer talks about himself so so much. I like Melanie Newman. I also was really starting to like Ben McDonald last season, though I haven’t heard him this season. I miss Gary Thorne more than I thought I would.
  6. I feel like the Yankees would already be a pretty tough baseball team to beat in a fight. Judge and Stanton alone would be terrifying
  7. Yea I was confused by this too. Seems like he really had the b-team out there yesterday...
  8. When I heard they had updated our playoff odds from 0.0% to 0.2%, it got me thinking. How many games in a row would the O's have to win right now, before I started seriously believing they could make the playoffs? I'm going to say 14. If they rattle off 10 in a row to start the season, believe me, I'll be thrilled. But I think pragmatism would still win out. It's a long season, they're going to be trading guys at the deadline, this rotation will wear out, etc. After about 14 straight wins, though, I'd start to think: Why Not?
  9. Good points. And I'd be pretty excited if Mullins stole 415 bases in his career like Rajai Davis.
  10. Between Hays and Mullins, who is considered to be the better overall defender? Just from watching the games, I get the sense that Mullins covers more ground and Hays has a stronger arm. Mullins playing in CF seems to imply he has the edge, but what do you guys think?
  11. I like Valdez as the closer.
  12. "Baltimore Bruce" looked good! Six solid innings and then turned it over to the number 1 bullpen in MLB....
  13. Ruiz looked great! And that throw from Hays in left was really impressive. I like Hays/Mullins/Santander in the outfield with Mountcastle mostly DHing, or giving Trey some days off at 1B.
  14. Means' changeup is a seriously good pitch.
  15. I feel like that was one of the most impressive defensive games I ever seen from Ruiz. At least three nice plays at second and he made it all look effortless. Speaking of "effortless" wasn't great watching Franco commit an error at third, then not even run out his groundballs to first... Not a great way to start your first game with a new organization.
  16. I hope Santander stays with the O's longterm.
  17. I thought the first base one was a little suspect. They had Davis getting like 150 at bats and being worth -0.6 WAR. That doesn't sound too crazy, but what if he doesn't get that many at bats? What if he doesn't get any? They were relatively high on Mountcastle and Mancini. I think by their own projections, the O's would have a top 50% 1st base unit if Davis doesn't play.
  18. Travis Lakins Sr. really impressed me last season. They used him in a lot of different situations, he could go multiple innings, and he finishd the season with a 2.80 ERA. I like this stat too, in 2020 he faced 116 batters (mostly at OPACY). He allowed just 2 HRs.
  19. I don't want to watch LeBlanc every five games...
  20. I kinda like the foul ball idea. A guy deserves some kind of reward for ten foul balls in an at bat, besides the announcers complimenting him for "really battling out there."
  21. Now that we've added Felix and spring training is just weeks away, I'm curious, who do you guys think will start the first five games for the O's? (In order) Game 1: ? Game 2: ? Game 3: ? Game 4: ? Game 5: ?
  22. You know, I'm not really sure. A few articles popped up on bleacher report about him being a leader in the clubhouse for the Mariners over the years. One about him buying his catcher a rolex after his perfect game... But I'm no expert on Felix. I think what is clear is his track record and his love for baseball. I'm hoping that he'll be a valuable pressence for the young pitchers.
  23. I'm late to the party here, but I'm happy about this signing. It will be a fun storyline in a rebuilding year and, more importantly, the mentorship from a Cy Young pitcher could be invaluable for our young and promising rotation.
  24. Wow I was excited about this when I thought it was just a salary dump. Now it looks even better. So if you look into your crystal ball, is this guy going to be the opening day second baseman in 2022?
  25. It would suck to be a Rockies fan. They made the playoffs in 2017 but lost the wild card game. They made it in 2018 but got swept in the division series. Now they're tearing it all down. At least the O's made it to the ALCS in our recent run of relevance.
