I don’t here many complaining now about us not taking him with his sub 700 ops in AA. The BPA is not the same for every club. If it is a very close call, many times a tie breaker will be $.

I don’t like Odor as much as the next guy. However, Urias is the only one that has truly shown something. Odor was better than Gutierrez last year and they are all similar in age. I’m sure if Odor is awful early in the season, his playing time will be reduced and he will eventually be released. I believe they will all get playing time and when rosters are reduced, a decision will be made if not sooner.

The players are making a ton of $ with guaranteed contracts. They are not co-owners and have no right to a certain % of revenues. If teams lose $ this year, will players give their salary back to the team? The owners got to be billionaires by being greedy. That is not a crime.

MLB baseball is the only US sport without a salary cap. The mlb players association is a joke and is out of touch with reality. Yes, the owners are greedy as well but the owners make the $ and pay the salaries of the players so they have more of an entitlement to have the rules align with their interests.

FanGraphs currently rates Lawler the #70 prospect in all of baseball with Cowser coming in at #85. This is a very reputable source. If they feel the difference is that small, how can anyone feel that we missed out on the slam dunk better prospect and that the O’s definitively liked Lawler more. I imaged that the 2 players were virtually equal on Elias’ board with the tiebreaker being some $ saved. That being said, the only thing we know is that many national pundits view these 2 players very similarly.

Why was it poorly thought out? Was it because of the injuries that happened after the draft that were out of their control? If Martin was injured, would it have been a good strategy? The bottom line is that we were unlucky with injuries.

I’ve never seen such a thing. Every game/swing is scrutinized. If he hits 2 home runs tomorrow, he is what we thought. If he strikes out twice, he is a bust. I think we need to wait at least 2 months and then evaluate. There were no games in milb last year/minimal in mlb, and I see a lot of players having very slow starts to the season. We can still scrutinize his at bats with the understanding that there will be adjustments/hot stretches/cold stretches/etc.
