  1. I just feel bad for Stowers. I hope he gets out of this system, for his sake.
  2. 16 straight games just taxed the bullpen. I'm not overly concerned about their performance going forward. The O's bullpen is in far better shape than most. The rotation and bullpen should be set up nicely heading into the Division series.
  3. I might be the only one, but I listen to the away broadcasts for maybe around half of the games. Not because Brown, Ben and Palmer aren't tremendous home team commentators. They are. I just like to break things up and keep things a bit fresh. I'm also interested in how the rest of the league perceives the Orioles. While other teams commentators can be brutal to listen to with the home team sometimes, I find most of their opinions on the Orioles to be pretty objective or even favor the O's a bit too much. And sometimes you really do miss out on other great broadcasters by doing so. I love Kevin Brown, but there are a few other play-by-play guys that I love even more. Guys like Dan Schulman for the Blue Jays or Gary Cohen of the Mets or Jason Benetti of the White Sox. I will say that I find there to be a big drop off in quality after Brown, Ben and Palmer. More than normal. I think Brett Hollander does a good job and I like it when he subs in. Almost anybody else for play by play or color and I'm going to the away broadcasts. At least Jim Hunter isn't a thing anymore, though.
  4. I think that would be the reasoning. The only risk would be effectiveness and how many IP he can pitch (as well as delaying the Tommy John, but that's already happened). The risk isn't worth the reward in the Divisional Series. But may be in the ALCS or the World Series.
  5. That's kind of what I expect. If the O's make it to the ALCS or World Series, I could really see Bautista being available. Higher reward to offset the risk at that point.
  6. All power rankings are pretty much just click bait to begin with
  7. I personally love reading the write ups Fangraphs does when they do an Orioles-specific article. Hell, one of the main guys is an Orioles fan. Another one is named Mike Baumann. Perhaps another reason to not like Fangraphs, for some. There's a difference between their numbers that hate the Orioles and their analysis.
  8. About as good of a lineup they can put out for an afternoon game with Mountcastle out. No Alvarez for the Astros.
  9. If he pitches, it seems more like "welp, we can't do any further damage to the arm". They'd be more delaying surgery than making it worse. Delaying it isn't good either, but if he can throw in a high leverage inning or two in the ALCS, the reward is potentially a World Series appearance. My bigger concern would be whether or not Bautista can be effective.
  10. People here need to get over Wells for this season. It's not gonna happen. The O's have enough arms and now have a five man rotation. They're in the middle of a 17 game stretch. Need a day off more than anything. That'll happen Monday.
  11. Lopez isn't eligible for the playoffs. I have some confidence in that bullpen lineup you've listed, especially if Flaherty can see an uptick in velocity and effectiveness. I don't know if Gibson would really be effective out of the 'pen, but Means might be. I could see Bautista added to the ALCS roster if the O's make it.
  12. At least give up Lopez's spot to someone who could maybe pitch their way onto the postseason roster. I know Baker isn't the most loved on this forum, but I'd much rather give him the innings over Lopez and see if he can figure some things out. Or Cole Irvin. But at this point, it's a little too late. Irvin is pretty much blocked by whichever two starters are moved to the bullpen for the playoffs, though.
  13. I watch all of the games on MLB.Tv, but haven’t had any issues. I generally watch the away broadcasts though. But I’ve never had this problem in the probably 15+ years I’ve been watching MLB.tv
  14. Two batters into last night’s game: “Means is a horrible matchup against this right handed lineup and the ballpark’s left field. We are going to lose” 5 innings in: “How could they take Means out after 86 pitches????”
  15. I think this is a matter of risk/reward. I don’t think Bautista will be available in the wildcard or division series. The ALCS and the World Series? Maybe
  16. Yeah, I’m in the camp that Means was not great yesterday. I like Means, and hope he pitches his way into the playoff rotation, but two starts in and he’s been average at best. And they still need to extend his outings. Means will be on the playoff roster, but I think as of this moment Gibson has the fourth spot over Means.
  17. Gunnar's not making it a priority and O'Hearn is getting more run with Mountcastle unavailable. Santander is in a slump. Those numbers do need improve, though.
  18. Not sold on Means. He only gave up 1 run last night but did not pitch particularly well. Definitely don't want him pitching two games. But they're not going to go with a 3 man rotation. Bradish and Rodriguez are 1-2, likely in that order, though interchangeable. Kremer is getting a start in there. I think Gibson gets a spot, but that could change. Unconventional, but I don't think a five man rotation is out of the equation.
