I have returned (with info on Roberts)

I really love baseball. However, I don't have a fraction of knowledge displayed by many of the hangouters, regarding prospects around the league. I have saw some pretty favorable Pie highlights last summer and if he can keep it together over a whole season, I would love to have him as an O. Keep the posts coming, I want to stay informed on this one. Thanks

If EPat could field at second, I would do that deal in a second.

However, he just becomes a 4th OFer in all likelihood, so i am not sure I do that.

If they would replace EPat with Veal, i make that trade.

And if they need pitching, how about them just keeping Gallagher and ask for Wuertz and Pie?

Or maybe work Dempster into the trade to take back salary to attempt to get Pie?

Gallagher would be the main piece in that deal and for good reason.

He mentioned that Gallagher's curve is on the same level as Rich Hill's, a legit snapper. He can dial it up to 94 but works comfortably in the 90-91 range. His change is still a work in progress but he often relies on it and is not afraid to throw it...unlike *cough* Cabrera* cough*

It's not that they need pitching, its just that they need SOME young pitching in order to go after Blanton, which you might be reading about soon.

He did play 83 games at 2b last year for Iowa.

When did Rich Hill become a stud? Couldn't we have had him for less a couple of years ago? I remember his name being brought up before.

5th in the league in Strikeouts as a "rookie" (I think he filled his service time and wasn't rookie eligable) tends to open some eyes.

It's been a while but I decided to stop lurking and get back into chatting and debating about my O's.

I spoke with my Cubs guy today. For those that have been here for a while this is the same guy that helped me break the Sosa, Patterson trades.

As of 6:00 pm this is what they were offering for Roberts:

Gallagher, Patterson, Murton.

Pie and Hill off limits unless we add a prospect.

No thanks, the Orioles need more for Brian.

That doesn't mean he played well there. I can't imagine why you people think this is such a great idea. Not one of these three players projects to be more than a third or fourth starter or third or fourth outfielder. We need quality, not quantity.

Why is everyone seem to be so low on Murton? I remember 2 seasons ago when Davearm made a bet that Murton would have a better OPS than Markakis.

I for one think the addition of Murton to our OF could potentially give us a very strong OF. Just imagine if we could add Kemp in there too. That could be one of the strongest OF's in the ML's in a year or 3.

    • I may be misunderstanding, but if you are suggesting that you would recall Rogers for the playoffs, then I must respectfully and strongly disagree. Baker is odd man out here, or maybe Smith, but I would definitely keep Bowman
    • A litmus test is if you'd prefer Trevor Rogers back for last guy. Tell me if it sounds crazy, but a pitcher you can sign to a minor league deal in mid-August might not be competitive with the world's greatest hitters in late September. It is fun to curate a trick pitch that works for a minute.
    • Just read two interesting tidbits - Juan Soto has battered him something like 18/35 which seemed like a lot but I guess PHI and WSN saw each other a bunch in the NL East. Also that he passed 1000 career innings.   It caught me a little by surprise he has been around that long.    Fingers crossed Bradish and Grayson in their careers can get there.    Eflin is 3rd among pitchers at age 30 and down this season. Hopping to Active Leaders to see how few pitchers attain that in this Driveline/Arm Barn era, tonight he became the 57th active pitcher to get there.     He gives us the ~162 IP we hope for in 2025, it'd go up about 20 spots.
    • Westburg, Urias, Mountcastle… Good defense, even when there’s bad defense. Westburg missed a ball that went for a hit, but I didn’t feel any foreboding, no,”here we go again” because I felt sure that that one play wouldn’t ruin the game. And it didn’t. Good pitching, even when there’s bad pitching. Eflin had never in his whole career walked 5 guys, but I wasn’t worried, for some reason. Even when Bowman had his worst outing as an oriole, I wasn’t worried, no,”here we go again” because I felt sure we’d win. And we did. Good hitting, good base running, even when Santander REALLY wanted that triple… and didn’t get it.  The fundamental baseball smarts seem to have returned, so a mistake is just a mistake. I feel really good about this team now, even though they haven’t been perfect. I really feel they’ll cover for each other, and we will enter the playoffs strong. I feel most comfortable about facing the Yankees again; they just don’t seem like a strong team, and I’m not the least bit worried about facing them again.
    • That is strong language coming from you.  The only recent guy I really couldn’t stand was Jimenez, though I sure wasn’t keen on Kimbrel for most of the season either.
    • Did you really say tonight’s game didn’t mean much?
    • To state the obvious, the magic number for home field in the WC series is now 1, with 4 games remaining.   Would love to v close that out tomorrow va. the Yankees and then relax all weekend.
