Still don't understand why Hardy and Wieters aren't flopped. Especially against Scherzer who has a power fastball it would make sense since JJ is a great fastball hitter while Wieters is just a bad hitter in general. I guess it's alot like the Jones/Davis arguments that came up weeks ago, but Jones is still a good hitter. There's a huge drop off between Hardy and Wieters.

Also I think we'd all rather see Hardy at the plate than Wieters if Davis gets an intentional walk. I just don't get Buck's refusal to move Wieters down (besides the 1 Toronto game). It's very similar to his refusal to move Hardy down last year. Hopefully Wieters gets hot though and makes it a non issue. I still think Betemit will be hitting 6th against RHPs when he gets back.

Over the last three years:

Wieters: .252/.322/.438

Hardy: .254/.297/.439

Hardy has hit better so far this year, but Buck doesn't change the lineup based on slumps and hot streaks.

Yeah but Wieters has been terrible all year, whereas after a slow start Hardy has been stellar. As I said, I'd love for Wieters to get hot, but right now Hardy is the better option behind Davis. It's alot like Hardy last year where he struggled badly. Buck finally moved him down this year and he's hitting well again. It's most likely not entirely due to him hitting lower in the lineup but sometimes a shakeup is needed.

I guess they are going to give Ishikawa a full dose of ABs to see if he's going to hit.

Did we cut Pearce? Roch saying he is no longer listed on the reserves list.

They haven't officially announced anything yet. The O's do need to get rid of someone to activate Gonzalez, so maybe Pearce is that guy. I'm not sure why they wouldn't just wait until tomorrow, though.
