Jim Johnson Today, 2013

He gave up a run, but he still looked like the JJ we all know and love. I think he's all the way back.

Yep. And for what it's worth, he just tied Mariano Rivera and Jason Grilli (National League) for the major league lead in saves.

He only had 10 pitches. Considering the fact that we only have McFarland and Strop down there, I'm surprised and disappointed that he didn't come out to pitch the 13th.

I'm going to guess that Buck didn't want to use him for two innings because he likely wouldn't be available tomorrow if it's a save situation

Rediculous stuff. I don't get to see enough games from up here, but seeing JJ's stuff when he's on is really awe-inspiring. His first pitch tonight dropped like 18 inches in the last 45 feet to the plate. His 3rd and 4th pitches are what we used to call screw-balls - moving 6+ inches left-to-right. What are those pitches called now? There's now way those lefty batters were going to get near those. Those were nasty even if they'd come from a left-hander. From a right-hander, they were unheard-of good.

As Buck would say, 'glad to have him' (when his stuff is working).

He will not make the AS game with a 4 plus ERA.

If he pitches to form he'll be closer to 3.8 in a week or so.

His WHIP is still 1.14. 8.4 H/9, 0.8 HR/9, 1.9 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 for a 3.71 K/BB ratio. He's just had a bad handful of games, is all. He's leading the league in saves and provided he's back to form I think Leyland will take a hard look at him.
