A player on the 40 man roster can simply be designated as a PTBNL. And no one blocked Texas from sending Garcia to Chicago.

Morales was my first choice in a deal back in July to help at DH and 1B once in awhile. Morneau and Michael Young were also mentioned. I think any of the three would help us. NY might pass on him. I hope we get him before the road trip starts and he plays in Boston. He would probably pay for his plane ticket and hotel room to get out of Seattle and join a pennant race. Morales success at OP happens with a lot of players as the big green wall in CF offers a great backdrop for seeing the ball. DD needs to add a DH soon. I wouldn't gamble on Betemit. He should just stay in the minors and play winter baseball to get back to where he once was for next season.

48 hours is the time period to work out a deal with the claiming team. 1pm tomorrow should be the deadline.

I would think the Yankees are the most likely claimant, but if they passed I think we would have made a claim.

No way they give up someone like Davies for a 33 day rental. I'd give them a Trent Howard C- type of guy at best.
