Just Keep on Winning the Series

Tonight's loss stunk. It stinks that we haven't gone on a prolonged winning streak. But this team hasn't gone on that long of a winning streak since 2012, even though they've been a very good team. In 2012 and the first half of 2013, when the O's were rolling, they didn't pick up that many sweeps but they just piled up series wins. That what's this team needs to start doing. They've won just three series of 3+ games since the series in Toronto. They've gone 18-18 in that span, which isn't bad considering they've only won 3 series in that span. If they can start racking up some series victories, their record will become impressive in no time.

It all starts with the SP. All 5 guys have much higher 2014 ERA's than their 2013 marks. Davis, Hardy, Jones, and Machado are going to heat up too. The O's will have no problem making the postseason if they play the way they can!

No need to worry about the lack of long winning streaks, or sweeps!

Very good thread, by the way.

Of course ...... THE ORIOLES MADE YOUR THREAD LOOK GOOD by going 52-29 since you started it back in early June. :laughlol:

o

16-3-1 over their last 20 series after taking the first 2 games of a 3-game series from the Yankees.

Make that an Orioles sweep.

Their win in the first game of the doubleheader on Friday was officially the 3rd and final game of the previous series that was played between the 2 teams.

By the way ......

How about a little love (and some greenies) for Jonesy 10, huh ???

In addition to the fact that since he started this thread, the Orioles have gone 23-6-1 over their last 30 series (.793 winning percentage in said series) AND have gone 62-30 (.674 winning percentage) in the games of said series', JONESY ALSO started THIS thread when the Orioles were down and out:

A Bad Stretch Doesn't Mean You're Not a Good Team

http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php/141398-A-Bad-Stretch-Doesn-t-Mean-You-re-Not-a-Good-Team

When Jonesy-10 started this thread, the Orioles had just lost 4 straight games (including a 2-game sweep at the hands of the Astros), had a record of 26-27 overall, and certainly did not have many believers on the orange and black front.

BUT .......

He told us all, didn't he ???

26-27 is unquestionably mediocre ...... but 26-27 is ALSO only 1/3 of a baseball season.

A game isn't over until 9 innings are in the books.

And a season isn't over until all 162 games have been played.

Just ask JONESY-10 if you don't believe me. ;)
