Orioles Trade Targets?

I'd give up a lot for Keuchel. And with a lack of positional talent' date=' which seems to be what Houston is looking for, we probably would have to overpay a little to makeup for it. But Gausman and Keuchel at the top of the rotation for the next 5 to 6 years? Yes please.[/quote']

Just not sold on Keuchel as that #2 long term but think he is no worse than a #3 type. Would much rather have KG, Bundy at the top of that rotation with even more time before they become costly. Bundy in terms of talent, pitches and stuff was light years better and their is no reason based on his rehab and progression to think he wont get back to being that again. Every scouting report I have ever read pretty much reflects that. Not a slam on Keuchel but Bundy has immense talent and drive. If you could get Keuchel at a decent price then sure...that's not happening at the trade deadline. The Astros are going to try to rake someone over the coals for him. Its possible Luhnow has a mind fart but unlikely.

Its not about discounting him its about numbers. Next year you have KG, Ubaldo (like or not we are stuck with him as SP for now), Chen, Tillman, Norris. Out of Chen, Tillman, Norris and KG who are you sitting for MiGo? Not to mention in the second half next year Bundy will more than likely be ready to attemot to do his KG impression. He is a decent #4-#5 guy who has benefited greatly from some outstanding D behind him. His numbers bear that out for the most part. He has been on a hot streak, his value in a trade as a SP is prob greater than his value in the pen to be honest. He is a guy who I like but is simply being squeezed out to some extent. On a side note the fact that the O's are talking about moving MiGo is a pretty clear indicator they are pretty confident based on the medicals and progression to this point that Bundy is back on track and will be fine.

So in short if moving a guy who is unlikely to be long for your rotation and a decent prospect but not top tier gets you a TOR starter for you pennant run....that is a no brainer.

This. I'm a fan of Miguel. I like watching him pitch. But he's a 4th starter without room for growth. Honestly, he's the kind of pitcher an org loves pre-arb, but ends up getting non-tendered by his 6th year because he isn't worth that final year arb figure.

I'm guessing we have given Boston an idea what we would be willing to trade and that it is currently insufficient to make a deal. Boston will see if they can do better elsewhere right up to the deadline unless they are given a solid offer elsewhere. I still think like I did yesterday that the chances of dealing for him are extremely slim. But if it did happen, it would probably be right before the deadline.

My guess is the Sox went to a position-heavy org like the Cubs, asked who they would give for one of the O's big 3 (to send to Boston), then the Sox came back to the O's (who hung up the phone).

O's are officially out of the race for Lester.. can't say I'm upset. Hopefully he goes somewhere in NL.

Not shocked it was a long shot at best. MiGo will likely still be dangled. If what the O's can get back for him as a SP outweighs his value to the bullpen then he will be traded, if not they will keep him.

Send him to the NL.

I hope the Pirates get him...tired of the Cardinals.

Also I doubt the Cards go as far in as the Pirates, they just got Masterson.

Dodgers are the wild card, I still think they end up making the move right before the deadline. Kershaw, Grienke, Lester....yikes that is formidable in a series.

Lester would be the closest the Orioles would get to a blockbuster trade. That's not a criticism, but a reflection that we make the most noise in the offseason and not mid-season. As such, my guess is there may be minor moves, but nothing that will get everyone excited. Instead, what we'll hear is how we did our due diligence and explored several options. However, everyone wanted our top pitching prospects, which goes to show the fine job the Orioles have done in bringing talent to our system. Maybe Buck will dust off his "I like our guys."

If the Astros want position players for Keuchel why not offer a deal around Schoop? Then go out and trade for a guy like Asdrubal Cabrera.
