Hunter Morris

Number5

Recommended Posts

The knock on him was that he struck out too much even in the minors, and scouts also questioned his bat speed, defense and physical conditioning. He got better as a fielder, but the jury remains out on the rest. Sounds like a major undertaking with the maximum payoff (if everything goes right) being a platoon or bench player. I think I would rather look for someone with a little more upside, but a MiLB deal wouldn't hurt, of course.

.279 with 11 homers in the PCL, I sure hope not.

If he hit .400 with 50 homers, he wouldn't be available. Heck, I don't know what happened to him last year, or what our scouts think of him, but I sure wouldn't totally discount a guy like this who is still fairly young, and has been highly thought of recently, based solely on stats from one bad year without at least looking into it. If our scouting department says the guy is toast, then yes, we should pass.
