MLB 2008 Predictions

Crstoner97 had an Orioles prediction thread on the main board, so I wanted to get one going for the entire league...

AL East:

NY

Bos

Tor

Bal

TB

I'm not buying into the TB hype just yet. Next year, maybe. But they've lost 3 hitters (Young, Dukes, and Baldelli) that were supposed to be corner stones for the team. Kazmir's shoulder doesn't give me confidence that this team will take the big step this year.

AL Central:

Det

Chi (W)

Minn

Cle

KC

This will probably be a lot different than everyone else's. I think their rotation could surprise people if Danks and Floyd step up. The Twins have three studs in their line up (Morneau, Mauer, and Young). I'm predicting Cleveland to step back and KC's lack of pitching holding them back. This is the best division in baseball.

AL West:

Angels

Mariners

Oakland

Texas

Angels pitching health is a concern, but I think they'll end up with the best record of a bad division. Josh Hamilton would get MVP consideration if their record was better.

NL East:

Mets

Braves (W)

Phillies

Nationals

Marlins

The Santana acquistion puts them in the WS.

NL Central:

Cubs,

Astros

Brewers

Reds

Cards

Pirates

Houston's OF has a monster year. Tejada plays meaningful games late in the year, but they miss out on the playoffs.

NL West:

D-Backs

Padres

Rockies

Dodgers

Giants

Upton explodes onto the scene and the Haren trade puts them over the top in the short term.

Playoffs

AL:

Yankees over White Sox

Tigers over Angels

Tigers over Yankees

NL:

Braves over Cubs

Mets over D-Backs

Mets over Braves

WS:

Tigers over Mets

AL MVP: Rodriguez

NL MVP: Wright

AL Cy Young: J Verlander

NL CY Young: J Santana

ROY: AL: Longoria

NL: Upton (is he still eligible?)

Who you got???

Hey BTerp, I'll bet you $100 that won't happen :D

I don't bet anything of value after the fourth inning of Game Three of the 2001 A's-Yankees Division Series when I bet two roommates $5 that Oakland would win the series.

So...yeah...:P

Especially when my pick is a very homer one :D

That's too bad, because Jones isn't even eligible for the ROY this year :P
