Blue Jays GM stepping down....does the interest in Duquette heat back up?

Didn't he gut Toronto's farm system?

Could that be the true reason he left? Maybe he feels a collapse coming after the free agents are gone and there is nothing on the farm to replace them. Perhaps he doesn't want to get blamed for that downfall.

He was offered a one year extension with a one year option with diminished authority. It was finally offered that he could be an AGM for five years.

According to reports out of Canada, one of the reasons Anthopoulos feels that the Blue Jays are no longer a good fit for him is that new president Shapiro has expressed strong disagreement with him giving up prospects in deadline deals. Sound familiar?

It has been confirmed that Shapiro expressed those issues.

Nope. Not at all.

He was denied that opportunity last off-season.

He was given that opportunity. He was unable to negotiate the correct compensation for himself. They gave it up for a run at 2015 instead. It didn't work for them either. KC destroyed both of our dreams.

no doubt, and when it didn' t work, somebody has to take the blame and fall.

Ownership and Shapiro both wanted AA to stay. You don't give someone a five year deal with an early opt out after year one if you aren't pushing hard to ink him. Sounds like good money, too.
