Matt Wieters splits

Interesting trend...For his career Wieters has always favored hitting LHP, OPSing 80 points higher from the right side (.805 to .725 over 2900 ABs). However, this year he has extreme splits favoring RHP, capped off by his two HR yesterday both from the left side. This year, Wieters is hitting .355/.890 from the left side, while only .178/.527 vs LHP. I have not heard anyone in the O's media notice this much less come up with a theory. The numbers on the RHB/LHP side may just be small sample (45 ABs). Still, if Wieters can prove that he can hit with power against RHPs he can become a legit 1B/DH option when he hits free agency.

No he hasn't.

It isn't uncommon for switch hitter to alternate dominant sides.
