He's lived up to all of my expectations. He's piling on in the race for worst contract ever. Since his $125M extension kicked in he's OPS'd .703, wRC+ of 89, is a -5 first baseman, and has been three wins below replacement.

I find it amusing that a .154/.214/.353 doesn't even get a mention. Not cutting him is a mistake.

Howard's feels worse because they signed the extension in the midst of a 1-win age 30 season, for ages 32-37. It was like if Davis was currently both playing worse, and under contract through 2017, and then signed a future extension. And he was a worse fielder. With a lower peak.

I'm not in favor of long term extensions to older players who still have years left on their current contracts.

It isn't as if the signing teams are getting a sizeable discount either.
