On Monday afternoon, Aderlin Rodriguez was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for July 4-10. It marks the second week in-a-row where a Keys player has claimed a weekly while four different Frederick players have received recognition in 2016.

In seven games, Rodriguez, 24, batted .452 (14-for-31) with five home runs, 15 RBIs, two triples, a double and 10 runs scored. He posted a 1.097 slugging percentage, and a 1.582 OPS. Rodriguez paced all MiLB players in RBIs, tied for the lead in home runs and tied for third in runs scored.

After going 2-for-5 with a double on Monday, Rodriguez is now batting .302 in 82 games with 16 home runs, 57 RBIs, six triples, 14 doubles, 42 runs scored, a .535 slugging percentage and a .353 on-base percentage. Going into tonight's action, Rodriguez is the league's leader in slugging percentage and total bases (170), while he is second in hits (96), tied for second in home runs, third in extra-base hits (36), fourth in RBIs and tied for seventh in batting average.

In 11 July games, Rodriguez is hitting .396 with five home runs, 15 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has an .833 slugging percentage and a 1.253 OPS. Following a first inning single on Monday, the Keys infielder extended his current hitting streak to nine straight games, Rodriguez also has a base hit in18 of his last 20 contests. During that time, he has raised his batting average 32 points (.270 to .302).

Signed by the Orioles as a minor league free agent on January 18, Rodriguez played for the Mets and Mariners organizations from 2009-15. He advanced as high as Double-A with New York and Seattle last season.
