Weams doesn't think the O's should televise road spring training games until all the other teams do.

Can't be ahead of the curve with the likes of the Dodgers, Cubs and Red Sox.

I don't think they should televise every game. But it would be nice to see a few on a weekend. Too bad work gets in the way of those 1pm Tuesday or Thursday games they televise.

I'm just the opposite.   I don't care about seeing Chris Davis and Manny Machado in ST games.   I love seeing Tavarez, Santander, Mancini, Sisco, etc.  I'd rather watch that on TV or in person in the spring.

That's where I'm at. I like to see the guys I don't get to see often.

I wouldn't need a whole roster full of MLB guys, but Buck tends to send Caleb and a bullpen arm as his mandatory MLB guys and that isn't worth it to me for the time and money required to go.

It isn't like the old days when a spring training ticket was $5.

I agree. I was teleworking the other day and put it on in the background but not sure why they don't do more weekend games for the fans, silly.

It costs money.

It is not as if they are going to get more subscribers if they add a half dozen road spring training games to the schedule.

I don't subscribe to MASN. I don't have a choice. I don't mind the fee, but it's not like we have a choice.

We will need a 5th starter for the first time on 4/15 against Toronto.  This is a perfect audition for Aquino.  He gets to face a lineup of regulars, late in ST.  It could be a test run.  I don't think its a slight towards Aquino, if anything he's being given the better opportunity.  That's how I would read into it.

Exactly.  They have no incentive to add games or original programming.  I'm sure it is why they were one of the last teams to offer HD.

Once the lawsuit is resolved I'd be glad to see them innovate.

Along with those other mega market RSNs.

I hate how with Fios I get MASN, ESPN,ESPN2,NFL network, Fox Sports 1&2, but I don't get the MLB network.  It's a joke.

ST coverage has been terrible this year and I'm going to have to up my cable bill 20$ just to watch the MLB network.  It's a must have for baseball season.

You don't have MLB network?

I did when I had Fios.

True. But the fact that they are guaranteed $5 a month from millions of people, and they only offer a handful of ST is what makes them a joke.

I've seen teams like the Pirates on MLB network replays a ton. Obviously, they are willing  to televise more games.

Either way, I think most fans would rather have the games televised on weekends, rather than the weekday gamea.

It's on some weird package that's right above mine.  It's worth the $20 a month during baseball season.  ESPN's Baseball Tonight isn't what it used to be.  I guess I'm just going to have to cut out 2 drinks at the bar or 1 lap dance a month out of my budget to cover the $20.  haha

I'd be shocked if things change much if at all after the lawsuit. They weren't into innovation before the lawsuit. Hence CoC reference to them being one of the last to offer HD. And he's right.

    • Funny thing is, if the O's win, I'm generally so psyched on my way out that I don't even notice all of these annoyances. I'm just happy that the team won. That was my experience a lot this year when the team was doing well. Unfortunately about half of my 13 game season ticket plan was in August and September, plus I got to watch one of the pathetic WC games. You can smooth over a fair bit of fan annoyance with winning, but at the end of the day, someone has to care about the little things and actually invest money to make them better. There's no longer any question about whether the O's will be here to stay. The government and the team are aligned: OPACY and the Orioles are here, and we're going to make the best of what we have, and make it a centerpiece of Baltimore. That's great. But now they have to put their money where their mouths are. Show fans from all walks of life that we are able to reimagine OPACY and the surrounding area in the image of an efficient, clean, 21st century facility, starting with things as basic as infrastructure and plumbing, and ranging as far as parking, public trans, and food at the park. Honestly? I sort-of understood why they weren't investing in anything in the years when (1) the team was bad, and (2) ownership wasn't invested in the team, and (3) the renewal of the lease with the Maryland Stadium Authority was in doubt. The vast majority of points (1), (2) and (3) above are now non-issues, or have been majorly mitigated in the past 2 years. So it's time to make things right. Otherwise why bother with the long-term commitment at all, if you're just going to let the project languish?
