Will Luis Sardinas be the O's Utility Infielder in 2018?

The O's just re-signed him to a minor league contract.  He is young and he is cheap.  He has  played SS/2B and a little 3B.

I believe him and Wilkerson will compete in the Spring. Wilkerson should have the edge in batting though. Could be a fun competition to see.

I wouldnt count out the team resigning Flaherty and bringing him back.

I'm guessing it comes down to who does better in Spring Training between Sardinas and Wilkerson.  Sardinas has to look like he can hit, and Wilkerson gotta look like he won't be a total disaster if asked to play SS for a few games.  Sardinas' good hitting year at Norfolk looks like a bit of an anomoly.  He didn't even hit well in the PCL, and his first 480 MLB plate appearances have not been terrific.  But as they say, the first 480 are the toughest.

Trending: Sardinas OPS'd .904 after the all-star break - in 186 plate appearances.  .584 before the all-star break in 136 Norfolk plate appearances.  Maybe a light went on?

For what it's worth, Wilkerson started at short in the AFL tonight. 2-3 with 2 runs, 1 rbi, a walk and 0 errors.
