He had TJ in August.  I'd give him a 2 year major league deal for the league minimum this year and next with some attractive incentives in 2018.  But who am I kidding this is the Orioles.

And I believe the $10 mm is split up $2 mm in 2018 and $8 mm in 2019.

Volquez's situation is much different than Smyly's.  Marlins have to pay him $13 million for 2018.  He doesn't need to sign that type of contract.  He can wait until he's cleared to play and hold an audition for teams and sign the best free agent deal he can get.

A fair point.  I'd still try it if I was the O's.  Wonder what it would take to get it done?  My guess is something along the lines of what Smiley got would be tough for him to turn down.
