Is DD allowed to do anything?

18 games in and no waiver wire pickups. No waiver wire pickups all offseason?  Vielma and Susac in the entire offseason?

Where the hell did the Michael Kelly signing to a MLB deal come from?  Did Brady meet him at the gym in November?

DD is a guy that was constantly acquiring manipulating the back end of the 40 man roster to improve depth and the organization.

Look at last year,

3/28: Traded for Asher

3/30: Traded for Verrett

4/5: Signed Edwin Jackson

4/6: Traded Faulkner; signed Steve Johnson

4/7: Traded for Castro

4/11: Signed M. Bourn

4/13: Traded for Damien Magnifico

4/25: Traded for Paul Fry

It’s clear that DD is nowhere near in charge.

Or maybe Dan is simply mailing it in while pondering his next gig.   And look at that  list...a fury of activity signifying nothing for a last place team.  Maybe he is now thinking  “what’s the point?”

I feel like we're taking ourselves too seriously in this thread.

What is Dan doing? I think he's honing his pickleball game.

That's what we do here.....0-0 Start!  Coach Mo!

Maybe he isn't in charge anymore and has to run everything by Brady and Buck and they just laugh at whatever he is saying.  I don't see why they kept him on this year if they weren't letting him make the decisions.  Seems spiteful.

Since hearing rumors/reports of Peter Angelos's reduced involvement or non-involvement in the team, I've been concerned that the Orioles' ability to move forward might now be paralyzed by a new decision-making vacuum, in which Duquette is (or believes he is) limited in his authority to make major roster changes; Peter Angelos is unable to approve moves; and his sons are unwilling to put their stamp of approval on any significant decision, and in particular on any change in direction or overall change. Operating on inertia is not a formula for success for any team, but certainly on one that's playing like, and has as many non-productive players as, this one.

I don't see how the current mess is going to get cleaned up without new ownership that is willing to hire and rely on smart baseball people to run the team. Even then, contending in the AL East with a diminishing fan base, the burden of the Davis and Trumbo contracts, and very limited access to international talent will be a real challenge.

Maybe they view this as his prison sentence for the whole Blue Jays situation. Rather than fire him, they made him a lame duck GM for the last two years.
