In 1973, the Giants went 6-0 in the preseason.

They won their first game of the season, and then had a thrilling tie in the 2nd game of the season against the Eagles when the Giants (with the clock running) ran their field goal unit on the field and got a trey from Pete Gogolak as time expired.

After that they went 1-11 in their final 12 games, to finish at 2-11-1.

One of the Redskin Superbowl years, they went 0-6 in the preseason.

Like pre-season NFL, or pre-season for any professional sport.

I don't even look at the W-L record, they mean ZERO.

You want to get the rust off players, you want to get your guys into season game shape, you dont want injuries, and you need to sort out the bottom part of your 25 man roster.

That had to be 1972, because they played 6 preseason games in those days.

By the time that they made it back to the Super Bowl again in 1982, the league had cut the preseason schedule to 4 games.

In 1982, they lost all 4 preseason games.

In 1972, they lost their 1st 2 and won their 2nd two preseason games.

If that's the case, then they never went 0-6 during a Super Bowl season.

Instead, we've got a pretty Orioles start to Spring Training:

  • Bundy sitting 92, throwing meatballs, gives up grand slam
  • Gausman sitting 91-93, allowing 7 of 10 to reach base, leaves with possible concussion
  • Offense yet to wake up, other than 4 homers - 3 from catchers, 1 from Mancini

I know it's Spring. I know. But jeez man. I don't even want to know what Tillman is going to do once he gets a start.

Concussion? What happened?

Thank you for the info.

No problem and sounds like Kevin is on track for his next start:

Kevin Gausman (eye) remains on track for his next scheduled start on Saturday.
Excellent news. Gausman was forced to exit Monday's start against the Tigers after suffering a cut near his left eye in a collision with Jeimer Candelario, but he's feeling good just one day later. It shouldn't be an issue moving forward.

Right.

So the case you are trying to make is that the baseball gods hate the Orioles so much that they made them exceptionally lucky in the regular season only to allow them to lose to a superior team in the postseason?

That doesn't sound like a strong argument.

If I hated a team I would make them exceptionally lucky in the regular season only to switch it up and make them spectacularly unlucky the last week or so and have them miss the playoffs.  That is if for some reason I wouldn't to be perverse and not just have them lose 100+ every year.

In other words, think less Orioles more Cleveland Browns.

Are you really having an argument about what the baseball gods think?   LOL.
