Is there a built-in floor from season ticket plans?  Attendance is at 892,026 with 36 games left.  Average attendance this season is 20,744.  Round up a bit, if you tack on another 750,000 fans for those 36 games, attendance may hit a low unseen since..as you might have guessed..1988 when 1.66M went to Memorial Stadium.

You have two weekend series against the Yankees and Red Sox before school starts. People have bought tickets for some giveaways way in advance. Red Sox also during the week . Some more Junior Oriole days.  Did already lose a game for a DH.

I think most people wouldn't want to go to the games even if they were free.

I'm trying to put a price on how much I'd have to be paid to go. Would I have to stay for a complete game? That would really drive up the price.

I'm thinking for $50 bucks I'd watch the O's play a game

Which one of those two series will be the “Welcome Back to Baltimore, Manny” promotion?  ?

There’s a built in floor, reflected in the title to this thread.    I believe final attendance will be below 1.66 mm.     But probably over 1.5 mm.

It's almost better to have a sunk cost.  My friends went last night and gave up after four innings.  They have a partial plan (shared with others) at about $50/pop each.  At least that 30-3 game a few years back (which he attended) was an anomaly.  Back then we did expect to lose, however, just not that badly.  Now, we expect to lose but still are in some sort of denial/disbelief.

I don't think anyone expected the Orioles to be good in '88.  But, I believe that people thought we'd at least be respectable this year.  Maybe contend for a wild card.  I think one of the problems is that people feel much more let down this season.  Even during the 1998 - 201 losing era, we had seasons that at least started good.  This has been a disaster since Day 2.

Guess people wanted those Maryland script jerseys.    I got one, and they’re pretty sweet.

I'm now starting to think the O's will be challenged to reach 1.5 mm in attendance this season.   They're currently running at 74.5% of what they drew last year at this point, which would project out to about 1.512 mm for the year.    But with the sell-off and the team hopelessly out of it, I think August and September will be a debacle.

As of this last homestand, attendance stands at 1,374,221.   With 13 home dates remaining, the O’s will need to average just shy of 10,000 a game to reach 1.5 mm for the year.   The remaining games are:

OAK - 3 weekday games

CWS - 3 weekend games

TOR - 3 weekday games

HOU - 1 weekday, 3 weekend games.

I’m guessing they’ll clear the 1.5 mm mark pretty easily, but fall well short of 1.6 mm.

Earlier this season, you stated that the Orioles might not draw 1.5 Million (and at the time, it looked like they might not.)

They got a significant boost from the Yankees series, in which the drew 103,174 for 4 games (an average of 25, 793.)

That series may be the one the lifted them over the mark when we look back on it at season's end.

Yeah, I hadn’t really looked to see who’d they be playing.    Weekend series with the Yankees and another with Boston that drew about 90,000, and a two-game series with the Mets that drew 45,000.    The upcoming series are not as good, but two are on weekends and they usually get decent crowds on the final weekend of the year, as they give a lot of stuff away then for “Fan Appreciation weekend.”
