After tanking the 2016 offseason, could he be tanking the 2018 season?

That's the only explanation I can come up with for constructing a starting lineup that features Sardinas, Santander, Joseph, and Beckham.

You don't sign Cobb and Cashner if your goal is to tank the season.  Santander and Sardinas are playing due to injury.  Joseph and Beckham have proved themselves to be ML level players as recently as last year.

I was referencing the lineup. Joseph is not a starting catcher, and Beckham is a utility infielder at best. Santander and Sardinas belong in the minor leagues not filling in for injuries at the major league level.

Read @Tony-OH's posts regarding the state of the front office. DD couldn't tank if he wanted to.

Joseph is a platoon catcher, or soon will be.  Beckham sure looked like a starting shortstop last year.  Maybe ask Buck why he isn't at short where he looked considerably better?

So...When someone gets hurt, they should just leave the spot empty instead of calling someone up to fill in?

Any theories? I hope it's not the case, that's why I phrased it as a question.

Yes. My theory is that he is not tanking the season, because that would be an idiotic thing for any GM to do. What's your theory?
