UpstateNYfan
Seems like a simple improvement that will provide safety for the player. I do believe "better" equipment sometimes have adverse results. In hockey, high hits were much rarer in the pre-helmet era (also were teeth). In football, the fully and better armored defensive player weaponized his equipment and could hit with higher speed and intensity because the risk of personal injury decreased. You might see more high and tight pitches if a batter is more protected.

Previously, it seemed like they were only used with guys who had been hit in the head, etc. But now I'm seeing a lot of players use them, especially on the O's. I've noticed the following guys use them consistently: Villar Ruiz Mancini And can we get a helmet that stays on Martin's head? I think it's his hair that's the culprit, but there must be a solution. I think it’s a good thing to have those types of helmets.
Moose Milligan
These things have been around forever, as noted before. Terry Steinbach was the first time I remembered seeing the C-Flap. Not sure why they got popular all of a sudden, seems like players should have been wearing them all along.
OsFanSinceThe80s
A lot more hard throwers now and kids are used to wearing the helmet in little league. If it doesn’t bother you at the plate, it seems like a no brainer to me.
