Early November should be a busy time for Elias

None of these guys were number 1 picks, or highly ranked prospects, yet, look at they produced well of where they were projected. When Didi first took over, it look like he would be a bust, and now look.

 

Yea Didi with his overwhelming 87 OPS+ and .6 rWAR in 2019.

I will cut Gregorius some slack.   Played half a season, coming off TJ surgery.    16 HR and 61 RBI in 82 games.

So when the Yankees acquired Didi the SS that was just above a replacement player.

They knew, he was going to reel off, 3.1, 2.2, 3.7, and 4.2 years.

Sorry, but I think that was a whole lot of luck there.

Citing last season's OPS+ and rWAR is cherry picking?

As opposed to Frobby mentioning RBI?

I’m thinking we get to see Elias bring in some milb FA that his people like. Last year was all about Elias just getting hired, much less him filling out his staff. I think we’ll see a much more active Elias after a year of assessing what we have, and getting his guys in place.

I think we will more more the following season.

I dont look for too many FAs this time around.

Five days after the World Series is over the 6 year minor league free agents become available.  Starting  pitching probably will be Elias focus.  Elias has said he will be active in signing some of these players.  He has a couple of spots on the major league roster to use and  he can offer minor league spots with an invitation to ST.  

I look for at least a couple a Wojo/Brooks types to be signed.  Guys in their late 20s or early 30s who can add length to the pitching staff.

Early November for the 6 year free agents and early December for the Rule 5 draft may be as busy as any time this off season for player acquisition.  The rest of the winter will probably be watching the waiver wire and see if who is available is better than who the O's have on the 40 man roster.

 Other dateS of interest:

November 20th   Roster set for the Rule 5 draft

December 2nd    Non tender deadline

December 12th  Rule 5 draft

About 2 more weeks until we can start analyzing some 6 year milb FA signings.
