Haven't heard a word out of the NFL yet.

They don't have anything to deal with until the draft in Las Vegas in late April.

Free agency can pretty much go on, perhaps with less meeting in person between players and prospective teams.

Prep for the draft will be more film based and less about going to team's Pro Days and watching the players work out.

Actually, the XFL is the only league with major (10000+) crowds that is going on right now in the US that hasn't made an announcement.

You do know that bacteria and viruses are transmitted in ways beyond direct physical contact, right?

You do know that keeping a locker room clean addresses that problem? You don’t just keep yourself clean, you keep surfaces clean. I’m not saying that this isn’t a problem, and I’m not saying we don’t need to be vigilant, but I am saying That this is a drastic step, and then should be only taken if absolutely necessary.

The Dragons and Wildcats will not be able to play home games with any crowds.  I'm thinking a decision will come within the next day.

Sucks because I really was hoping the XFL would survive.  The response seemed more positive than the AAF though and they were just really unlucky so McMahon may give it another shot next year.

What is college baseball doing? With campuses shutting down and replaced by distance learning are teams still going to play? Will MLB go into draft with fresh data or go by 2019 info?

A few conferences (Ivy, Patriot) have already shut down all spring sports.   I expect others to follow suit but it hasn't happened yet.

Interestingly Virginia Tech made an announcement yesterday where they extended spring break a week and then the entire remainder of the school year will be online instruction only.   And they cancelled a host of upcoming events between now and April 30 -- Ring Dance, Parents Weekend, Black Alumni Reunion Weekend, the 3.2K race in commemoration of the 32 people who were murdered on 4/17/07, etc.   But they didn't cancel any athletic events yet, including the spring football game which usually draws 30,000-40,000 people.   I assume that is just because the academic administration cancelled all those other events and left it to the Athletic Department to deal with the sporting events.   But I would be utterly shocked if the Spring Game is held (at least with fans).

Stay safe. You are front line man.

The line has gotten me. I just got a positive strep test. At least that's ALL it is and I can stay home until Friday night, and right back out there.

    • Mayo coming back from injury could have his debut in Baltimore delayed.
    • Wasn't a huge fan of his swing for that last out today but coming in to pinch hit with 2 outs isn't easy.
    • Interpreting Malike's comment that way is theoretically possible, but I didn't take it that way--didn't feel that shade was being thrown on me at all. But thanks for the concern.
    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
    • Comp a. Like Gunnar, and beavers…
    • Wasn't Westburg a 2nd round draft pick?  It's a little early to judge last year's draft.
