No. It would not. And you would not be correct. You would be correct in stating that the starter was not able to pitch a good game.

I think giving up three runs in five innings isn’t terrible, but after 75 pitches in five innings I would pull him. Especially given what he has done so far this season, there was very little excuse to leave him in to start another inning, and lo! 4 more pitches and he was gone!

So yes Hyde once again left his starter in too long.

To call it a good outing for a starter to only go five innings is not accurate.
