And by competent players you mean your definition of competent.

The O's have two catchers with a rWAR over 0 and AR waiting in the wings.  The only catcher they need is a backup type at Norfolk, the kind that doesn't go onto the 40 man.

They also have a 0.7 rWAR in 99 plate appearances left fielder and a 0.8 rWAR in 122 plate appearances left fielder. Left field is not a need.

Well I said this before, and it remains true, that we need competent defense, and 2B, 3B and catcher are weak spots, and LF might be, depending on who is ticketed for that spot.
The pitching is much better, and I expect the off-season focus will be on improving the infield defense.
