The scrub-to-prospect ratio is better this spring

I use "scrub" jokingly here, of course. What I mean is, in the last couple innings of a spring training game, the replacement lineup is a lot less minor league free agents/guys you've never heard of and more actual prospects.

Today's game contained only two of what I would describe as non-prospects: Wynns and Mejias-Brean. (We can quibble on guys like McCoy, I guess). 

But yesterday's game against the Yankees consisted entirely of well-regarded prospects at the end:

Nevin 1B
Bannon DH
McKenna RF
Rutschman C
Westburg SS
Diaz CF
Vavra LF
Hall 2B
Henderson 3B 

It's an easy way to see that the floor of the organization has really raised significantly. Not all of these guys will be studs obviously, but it's a far cry from having a lineup of career farm guys or MiL FA flyers in the 6th inning of a spring game.

Yeah, remember last year when we were absorbed by the riveting utility man battle involving Pat Valaika, Ramon Urias, Andrew Velasquez, Dilson Herrera, Malquin Canelo, Jose Rondon, Richard Urena, and Mason McCoy?

Ahhh, memories.

I agree too about the talent bar rising. Plus, Hyde and Elias have mentioned the need to give these minor leaguers some higher level competition after missing it last summer (except intrasquad).
