Relievers are fickle. The trade in the OP is a joke. Not the OP. I’d prefer just grabbing the hot rental arm. It’s less risky and less expensive. Leclerc and Robertson are options.
Me too. I think he’ll get us a game 3 SP that’s a better option than Suarez, and he’ll get us a high leverage arm for the bullpen.
But… other people have different wants/expectations.
The question is, who would you want starting a game 3 over Suarez,
Skubal - Pushes Grayson to Game 3, Yes
Crochet - See Above, Yes
Scherzer - Yes
Kikuchi - Yes
Fedde - 75/25
Eflin - 60/40
Severino - 50/50
Heaney - No
Lorenzen - No
Flaherty - No
If you wouldn’t rather have the acquired SP over Suarez in Game 3, then there is no point in acquiring them.
Because there are “Better Players” doesn’t mean they aren’t wasting away in the minors. Neither guy has anything left to prove in AAA.
You’re right about Mayo who is 22 …. But we have 6 prospects who are 24 or older in our top 30. These players start to diminish in value due to age.
Maybe try and trade your tickets to a section that is covered by the second deck? Rain delays are tough at the stadium because there isn’t much seating in the concourse area. Also, I suggest bringing some pre-packaged food/drinks that the policy allows so you don’t spend an arm and a leg.
See Page 25 in this thread. I’m not saying I started it but I brought it up as a possibility to get Mayo up here without getting rid of Urias.
I’m sure someone else that follows the team could’ve drawn the same scenario up.
