Nice list!   Worth noting the ages of the DSL players (baseball age protocol):

Basallo 16

Tejada 17

Alvarez 18

Benscome 18

Junior Lara, 17, missed the start of the season and fell short of your 100 PA threshold (74), but he sure looked like someone to watch (.328/.425/.492).   He played mostly CF and wouldn’t have beaten out Cowser even if he qualified, but I thought I’d mention him here as someone to watch in the FCL next year.

Denoyer pitched in 3 games for the 2019 GCL Orioles.   Just saying.

Reliever was tough because most first year guys that are good were starters. I also would have swore Denoyer was one of those free agent signees after the 2020 draft. Thanks for the catch.

Worth noting that Basallo led all of the Orioles DSL players in HRs and was at the playing age of 16 this year. It would really be interesting if they start him in the GCL next year.

Do you have any doubt that they will?   I certainly expect it.   He’ll be very young for the league, but I don’t see any reason for him to repeat the DSL.  FWIW, he’ll be 10 days younger than Darrel Hernaiz was when he played in the GCL in 2019.

Would be really nice to see a catching tandem of Basallo and Willems in the FCL next year. That’s some upside.

I would think he will be along with Hernandez despite Hernandez's relatively lackluster pro debut down there.

I assume Willems will be gunning to make Delmarva.

I would be pleasantly surprised if Willem made Delmarva. I'm not sure why it took him so long to get started and why they shut him down so quickly, but his struggles in his limited playing time suggest he might be more of a long term project vs a fast mover. My guess he will be on one of the FCL teams next year.

SS: Frederick Bencosme (DSL)- .310/.365/.451/.816   6 2b, 2 HR in 158 PAs

Bencosme is a guy who kind of flew under the radar this year despite decent numbers.   I heard Koby Perez talking him up a little in an interview.    Definitely someone I’ll keep an eye on next year.

    • Starting point has changed.  Given the fact he has approx 1/7th of his season in the books at 1.139, to OPS just .780 for the season, he'd have to drop off to under .730 the rest of the way.  That sort of drop off wouldn't be acceptable to me. I'd like him to OPS .800 the rest of the way for roughly .850 for the season.  The more they use him in a platoon role, the better I think that number might be.
    • Can I ask how you timed it vs the DVR?  Did you use a stopwatch or count click with pause/FF, or something else?
    • I can’t fathom why anyone would want a Tanner Scott return. In 10 innings, he is 0-4 with a 1.78 whip. He was maddening before, and now he’s older. But I wonder if the Red Sox would part with Justin Slaten? He’s been pretty outstanding. Yeah, only 8 innings, but we hired Yohan Ramirez, and he’s been a catastrophe in 10. Yes, I know he’s a rule 5, and the Bosox are in the East. And their pitching is pretty thin, too. But they know they aren’t going anywhere in this division, and they might think getting a good return for a Free Rule 5 guy might be worthwhile.
    • This draft unfolded weirdly.  First with the *nix guys getting taken early and then how no defensive players got taken all draft, and then a bunch of teams reaching for OTs.  I'm pretty happy with how the draft unfolded because I think we got a player that I expected to be gone by the teens or early 20s.  I don't know what we're doing with our OL but hopefully we can maybe trade up from 62 to pick someone up.
    • I have it on dvr and I timed it four times. I got 10.75, 10.80, 10.74, and 10.78.
    • This is exactly what EDC said tonight
    • My guess is more of a safety profile than they preferred. They clearly wanted Wiggins. They ran that pick up fast. And then when you listen to the press conference, the love for the player was obvious.
