Jean Pinto 2022

After a so so first start and after giving up 2 runs in the first inning, Jean Pinto was 2021 Pinto tonight.   He struck out 8 of the last 10 hitters, with the other two being a single and a groundout.   8 strikeouts and 2 runs in 4 innings.  3 hits and 1 walk.

Another 8 strikeout outing for Pinto in 4 IP tonight, but he coughed up 3 ER too.   He’s certainly missing some bats.

It's a mixed bag but two straight starts with 8K's and 1 walk in 4 IP.   I'd say there are enough good signs not to be too concerned with the high ERA at this point.

He’s given up 10 hits & 5 bbs in 10 innings so far this year.  2 of those hits are 2 run Homers accounting for 4 of his 9 runs given up.  He’s struck out 19 in those 10 innings.  The stuff looks good, once he starts to command it better I think he will be a force.  I think he is going to have a very successful year.

We haven't gotten a good angle on him this yet and unfortunately, the Carolina League has some of the worse team broadcasts. Missing bats is always a good thing but I do wonder if he's missing with that fastball when it comes to the homers.

Hopefully we'll get some good camera angles soon with him.

Pinto had a very pitch-efficient outing last night, getting through 5 innings in only 59 pitches, 42 for strikes.  He allowed 2 ER on 4 hits and a walk, striking out 4.  He ran into trouble in the fourth inning, allowing a walk, a single, a double steal (including a steal of home), and a run-scoring double.   He got into a little trouble in the fifth too after yielding two singles to start the inning, but induced a DP and another ground out to finish his outing.

Solid outing for Pinto tonight, 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K’s.   He only threw 57 pitches, 39 fir strikes.  I was a bit surprised they didn’t send him out for the 5th inning, but maybe they wanted to give Feliz the five innings tonight.

Pinto is on the 7 day IL.   Could be Covid or maybe there's a reason why he was not the guy we saw last season.   We saw some flashes early in the season with big strikeout numbers but then he was just bad.   We have a lot of pitchers at all levels on the 7 day IL.   Brandon Young, Raul Rangel, and Pinto just to name 3.

Rom Just came back as well. The few pitching prospects we have seem to banged up.

Four shutout innings for Pinto today, 1 hit, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts.  ERA to 4.11.

For June: 20 IP, 3 ER, 14 H, 4 BB, 20 K’s, 1.35 ERA, 0.90 WHIP.

Really, he has pitched very well from April 27 forward except for one real stinker on May 21 where he allowed 7 runs in 3 IP.   After that game he went on a short IL stint, so that one bad outing may have been injury related.

The O’s have handled him gingerly this year.  Pulled today after 62 pitches despite cruising.

    • They are a bunch of simp libtards now, you'd fit in well
    • Trade for trout while his is stock is low. Bit of a gamble, but he's a leader that needs a change of scenery. He is our RF/ DH middle of the order RH bat to replace santander  If we can keep him healthy, he might be the veteran presence we need. We have the salary space for his contract
    • I'm rooting against the Yankees this weekend. Hasn't gotten close to that point for me. The 2016 WC game was the worst because of the Britton situation. The 2014 Royals series was awful. I don't know that this loss was even as bad as last year's vs the Rangers where it felt like we could go all the way. This was just a wild card team vs a wild card team that could go either way, and some bounces didn't go our way and young players couldn't handle the pressure. It's best-of-3, it happens.
    • I'm older than most here. The pain of being a sports fan in Baltimore in 1969 make this year's playoff sweep seem trivial. All three of our local pro teams had great regular seasons. The Colts were a sure thing to beat the upstart Jets in Super Bowl III. No way the mighty Orioles would lose to the Mets in the World Series. And I thought for sure the Bullets might beat the Knicks in the NBA semifinals. Talk about long lasting pain ...
    • Come on man, that's a crock. I've been as frustrated as anyone watching Adley's approach at the plate and his uppercut swing. But to say he's the kind of guy that makes excuses is way out of line. I have no doubt Adley will work on getting his body, swing and mind right in the off-season.
    • I was given three free tix to see them in Durham in '23. They oversold the tix, ie. the seats were not assigned, first come / first serve,  the line to get in was ridiculously long, and we had to stand in the miserable heat and humidity of a NC summer.  Worst baseball in person experience of my life. Just goofy from the little I got to see in the three person deep standing room only crowd. We left after three innings or whatever they call it in their version of the game. Way too loud, too. Just too much BS going on. It was like the baseball version of drinking WAY too much gin and fruit punch and the wild colors give you the bed spins.
