The 4-9 hitters in the Orioles lineup have the following OPSs:

  • .556
  • .548
  • .536
  • .653
  • .445
  • .334

And the two healthy players on the bench have OPSs of .480 and .481.

That is truly amazing.   Maybe you see something like that a week into the season on a team off to a horrible start, but I have to wonder if it has ever happened with a team 30+ games into the season (paging @DrungoHazewood for some Cleveland Spider history?).

On the good news front.

Old Bay Goldfish crackers are a thing.

Tried some today....pretty tasty.

I normally find the powered cheese flavor of Goldfish to be a bit unpleasant but it's nicely tamped down as is the amount of Old Bay.

The Old Bay cheese puffs that I think Herr's makes are  hard to find, but when I bring them down from MD to one of our Virginia Tech tailgate my crew practically inhales them.   The popcorn too.   Will have to give the Goldfish a try.

Average slash line* of Yankee lineup:  .234/.318/.383/.702

Average slash line* of Oriole lineup:  .210/.286/.301/.587

*I did not add up all the at bats of all the players and hits, walks, etc.   I just averaged the slash line of each player weighted equally.

I was actually kind of surprised the Yankees' wasn't higher but they have a couple low #s at the bottom of the order and offense is down all over baseball.
