Next 9 Games…

Those games vs TOR and BOS will determine everything for this Orioles season.  They can trade a couple pieces away and still be in the mix because of the talent they can call up as replacements.

If Boston ends up being sellers at the deadline, that can majorly boost Baltimore's chances at a Wild Card spot.

Has our rotation been announced for this weekend yet? Who are our expected starters?

Kremer Voth Watkins.

We will need someone to replace Wells in the rotation Monday night in Texas.

6 of the games are on the road and we are 21-29 on the road this year.  Cincinnati is also playing pretty well.   They are 12-6 since July 7 and that includes series vs Tampa, the Yankees, and St Louis.   If we go 3-3 in the road games I think we have to be happy.   Then either 2-1 or 3-0 vs the Pirates at home.

Hoping for 6-3.    If we do better than that, that would be a nice statement to make.

I think 6-3 would be a good outcome as well, winning all 3 series 2-1 and putting us 4 games over .500.

Rotation is thin and the bullpen on fumes after the TB series.   This is going to be a tricky stretch.  We need Mancini, Hays, Mountcastle, and Santander to do some heavy lifting for awhile.

We’re short a RH IF bat too. Nevin just isn’t the answer. Khreibel probably has to go more than 3 outs. Baker did not look good yesterday.

The bats need to carry us tonight and Kremer needs to give us 6 strong. This offense needs it’s swagger back and hopefully that will happen in the small park tonight.

Our right handed power bats, Mountcastle, Hays and Mancini, have been ice cold (inside the parker off an outfielder's face not withstanding).  They have to heat up.  Even if they do, I still don't think this is a playoff ready team and I would not change any plans that Elias has made for the trade deadline.

Luckily we’re facing off against Minor tonight, who has been not good.

Cinncy, Pitt, and Tex, will all be sellers. So that should help us.

This might be really key to predicting (or not being able to predict) how this goes.  Especially if we end up being sellers as well.  Hard to gauge any of it, when we've no idea what any of our rosters will look like next week.

With Tampa playing the harder schedule during this upcoming stretch, 5-4 would probably be ok, but 6-3 or 7-2 might gain us a little ground.  I'm always dubious on the "easy schedule" hopes.  The telling stretch is going to be the 10 game stretch from August 8th to 17th.  6 games against the Jays and 3 with TB.  Of the 9, 6 are away games with those teams.  Winning each of those series would put us in the WC.
