Well they may be a playoff roster with him.  Its possible.

For me though, I see us trading multiple guys I feel can be 2.5-4 WAR guys.  I am not just sure.  The more I have thought about it, the more I lean towards it being something we should think about.

OTOH, I would rather keep the prospects and do a Lopez/Mullins deal.

I am not sure.  Maybe.  But I think you would be hard pressed to get that deal if you were looking to move him.

Which is of course the point.  They aren't looking to move him.

My vote is to let Lyles walk and then sign someone better.   I think we should go all-in on Carlos Rodon.  He's young, gifted and left-handed.   If Kershaw really makes it to the open market, he would be my plan B.

How many times X do you think it would take to get him to sign in Baltimore over what the Dodgers offer him?

Is Rodon a FA this offseaon?

If the Dodgers want to keep Kershaw then he will stay there.  I don't think he even makes it to free agency.   Rodon has a $22.5M player option; I think his market value is well above that, so I expect him to be a free agent.

Yeah, one would suspect Rodon to turn that down and hit the open market.  I hadn't realized he was a FA.  He's an interesting target, and will be very expensive.  Are the O's prepared to give out a six figure contract to a pitcher?  Is it even wise to do that?

I kind of like the Carlos Rodon idea myself. Risky but you're risking money verses young players.  Young players save you money so you can take a risk on someone like Rodon.  There's never been any doubt about his stuff from the very beginning.  He became a pitcher.  It's all about rolling the dice on his health which he's been the last two years.

You got it. No player is truly untouchable. Anyone can be had for the right price. I gave Orioles fans the price.  If you all are truly serious, that's about what it will cost for Sandy.  If anything, Orioles don't fully grasp how dominant he is. He is reliable, eats a ton of innings, an unhitable sinker, he is the only bright light of an abysmal and poorly run franchise. It will cost more than what Orioles fans are prepared to part with, which is why I say he is untouchable. The four guys proposed don't equal one Sandy Alcantara.  Which is why Orioles fans proposed it, lol.

Plan C might be Tyler Anderson.  He's having a career year in LA, but he was a very good pitcher for Colorado before he got hurt, and it may just be that he's finally healthy.   He would come cheaper than Rodon.

Now that Ohtani cost certainty at 1/30 has been set, Baseball Trade Values guesses his 2023 surplus down to about $50mm (understanding even 8-10 win players never get $80mm in real life).

Alcantara with all the years he is basically Top 10 MLB-wide like Adley where the Club is forecast with Median Surplus Value in nine figures, so you maybe can't get to Alcantara shy of four of our best guys if Gunnar excluded.

Early in the offseason one of the first big dominos for me is what "wishes" will Ohtani signal to the Angels, and then if he wants out has Elias brought the BAL brand far enough it is somewhere Shohei would like for 2023.    I believe some of why LAA won originally is he was curious to play with Trout, and now he's been there, done that.    Is Adley's pitcher friendliness a once-in-a-lifetime novelty?

Ohtani is not coming here.  Not ever.

He will stay on the West Coast.  There's a reason he's in Anaheim right now, and it ain't money.

I wonder if Tyler Anderson will get a QO after his success this year.    All the guys better than him able to get one will have them, Anderson hits me as someone who may fall close to the dividing line.

I believe the outcome was they didn't figure out an International Draft, so we still have Qualifying Offers this offseason.

He is and he would be one of the guys I target. 
 

Who cares if the Dodgers have more to sign Lyles? They can afford it for a fourth or fifth guy in the rotation, the Orioles need to spend on an ace or someone close to that pedigree.

Respectfully, not exactly sure what your point is here. Sandy won more than 8 games as well this season. You say we lost 90+ games this season...I know that already. I've suffered through it. I'm not debating that our team is crap. Again, I already know that. I'm saying to give up the only thing of significant value on the team and one of the best pitchers in baseball and this year's NL Cy Young winner is going to cost quite a bit. Sandy by himself is the difference between staying at home for the playoffs and popping champagne in October. But that doesn't come for free. You gotta pay to play. If you all are serious about Sandy, it's going to cost a lot.
