Well no, the average team debuts 6-8 players a year.   How many stick long term is another question.  Rutschman and Bautista look like definites.  We’ll see how many of the other six are in the majors a couple of years from now.

Just as an example, in 2015 255 players debuted in the majors, 8.5 per team.  Only 71 of those players have played a game in the majors this year, 2.36 per team.   Here’s the list: mhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2015-debuts.shtml

I believe the standard is a team with a good farm should graduate 2 regulars aka full time players a year.  Rutschman and Bautista are definites.  Stowers, Bradish and Vavra might end up as regulars too.  Guts like Vespi and Nevin are probably platoon/utility/middle reliever types and I wouldn't  count them.

I'm conflicted for the nine TOR-TB games which team I hope to go 7-2.

The many head to head games left make Toronto easier to catch, plus we have a good chance in the season series in case of a ~86-76 tie as long as we stay reasonably competitive.    In a vacuum though, I think TOR stronger than TB.

Toronto probably needs to be four games clear of us after Game 159 to get to relax in the final Camden weekend.

I haven't looked it up, but I'd guess the Orioles didn't graduate a single good, long-term regular in half the years since 1985.  Might depend on how you define long term regular.  Like the 2004 Orioles graduated Bedard and Cabrera.  Does Cabrera count since he made 155 starts for the team over five years but was mostly awful?

Looking at these upcoming schedules, TB and Seattle are our best shot. Toronto is in cupcake land for awhile.

That is why you play the games.  So far Rays and Jays both lost first 2 vs Sox and Angels.  I wasn’t hoping this weekend wouldn’t see us lose 2 or 3 games in the standings with us playing the Astros and pretty much seal our fate.  At the very least we will be exactly where we were when these series’s started.
