Payton for Murton??

Matt Murton was a late scratch in right field, so Cliff Floyd took his place and was moved into the clean-up spot, with DeRosa batting fifth, Fontenot sixth and Jones seventh. No word yet on why Murton was scratched.

I'd take a Murton for Payton switch. It would help make the team younger and rid us of Payton's contract.

There's no way we get Murton for him. If Murton has been taken out for a trade it's elsewhere and Payton is to replace him.

Couldn't have traded him until June 16th (unless he give his permission), he went on the DL on June 30th and MacPhail was hired 6/18/2007.

He also sucked big time in June, 6 starts, 8.89 ERA, 26 IP, 40 hits, 14 walks.

Trading Payton wouldn't really help out the O's, If Mora's moving to Outfield or if someone better can replace Payton. Mid-level prospects won't really help the team except getting rid of Payton's salaries. I would rather have a 4M outfielder than midlev prospects.

Interesting career. Has a couple great years mixed in with some bad years. Kinda reminds of Terry Evans, who was traded for Jeff Weaver a year ago.
