Thoughts on the Last Two Games

1. If anyone is at all superstitios, then burn those uniforms ASAP. It's not that I don't like them, but we're 0-2 in them.

2. How them all black unis gonna feel in the summer days of August and September? They gotta be hot right?

3. It is great to know that these performances from our O's have been very few this season. In recent years, the losses the last two nights would have been no big deal and we fans would have just chalked it up as "normal". Look at how far we have come. I expect to win every game now.

4. We are two players short of a real contender to go deep into the playoffs: a big bat that isn't streaky and a 1 or 2 pitcher that can be counted on. We can make the playoffs as we are now, but we won't go far. Remember, all of the other contenders are going to improve their team at the trade deadline. We gotta keep up if we really want to win this season. This is especially important with Means not coming back and Grayson's performance.

It's a coincidence that I was just thinking about this exact same thing a few moments ago as I was looking at the retired numbers of our franchise. I thought to myself, "If you put Jim Palmer along with either one of Eddy Murray / Frank Robinson on the today's Orioles team... They're probably winning the World Series."

How many teams are “just” a TOR pitcher and a MOO bat away from being a WS contender?   Those players aren’t easy to find.

I see this as a team still in development.  A lot of young, relatively inexperienced players who are performing well and learning at the same time.   We’ll see where they are in September.

We dont have a MOO bat. We just dont. Adley is an elite hitter for a catcher, but in a general sense hes just a good hitter. Remains to be seen if he can progress to an elite hitter. Nor do we have any TOR starters. Your point is well taken, that quite a few teams would be competitive with an addition like that. We don't have a bona fide superstar on this team.

What about your boy Frazier?  Can't believe you would disrespect him like that.

I’d say Adley is pretty close.  Not a superstar hitter, but a guy you can see putting up 5+ WAR season after season.  And he may have another gear with the bat eventually, we’ll see.   But I certainly agree we don’t have any great hitters on this team, just a collection of very good to decent hitters without a ton of weak spots.

I've noticed that Adely misses quite a few fat pitches. For some reason. Dont know why, but if he ever starts hammering mistakes regularly then watch out. Because the plate discipline is already elite.
