watching Gray pitch lol .. good grief we look like people picked at random from the stands..

It's not just this series against the Twins.  The last couple of weeks, almost everyone on this team has been hyper aggressive.

They are not working counts, they are constantly swinging at first and second pitches, and they're not collectively stacking pitch counts on opposing starting pitchers, letting them hang forever and shortening our opportunities against opposing bullpens.

The exact opposite of what made us so successful the first two and a half months of the season.

I don't know if it's all individual players doing it, or if it's a team directive... but it's got to stop.

Sometimes I wonder if Wieters will actually prove to be more valuable to Rutschman on his career.

A career WAR of 17.6 isn’t bad at all for where Wieters was drafted. Guy catches more flack than he deserves.

17.6 at 1:1 would be a bit disappointing, but not a travesty.

Why was Hayes taken out of the game?  Is he injured and how did he get injured?

Apparently an inning or two earlier he had a collision with the first baseman when an infielder's throw pulled the 1B off the bag.

A horrible throw to first...firstbase jumped into the runners line and they hit with Hays running hard to first.  Hays is glass so now he is broke.

    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
    • Comp a. Like Gunnar, and beavers…
    • Wasn't Westburg a 2nd round draft pick?  It's a little early to judge last year's draft.
    • Before Elias.  They generally haven’t missed on a 1st round or 1st round comp pick with the position players.   I trust they’ll make a good decision at #22 and #32.   Their track record in rounds 2-4, particularly on college position players and specifically the last three drafts is suspect.
    • Anyone want to guess what it would take to get Crochet from the White Sox?  We could send SG over to ask politely and remind them of what they missed out on Ortiz.  I'm sure that wouldn't stir up a hornet's nest.
