He didn't slide past the bag, technically speaking.  It's usually only called if you can't reach the bag anymore at the end of your slide but the runner there never really left the bag.

Yeah and just not sure he has any standout skills in the field. I think he would probably serviceable, but Mullins/Fabian/Bradfield are all plus defenders there.

Hays has the better arm and IMO should have been the one to try the throw.
