My neighbor is a diehard Cards fan. He says JF’s issue has always been something physical, as in when he doesn’t feel completely optimal they’d find out that something was nagging him. I don’t know how to not describe that as mental but I also can understand someone not wanting to compete against the best in the world when they don’t feel right. However, not an excuse for him and I certainly would like to see him and the rest of the team do the best they can with what they have. That’s part of being a pro. They won’t always have their best stuff. The good players figure out how to compete and succeed in those moments.

I’m hoping JF bears down a bit today and gives the O’s the start that he’s capable of this afternoon. A sweep against the Rocks would be real nice.

Jim Palmer would pull himself from games when he didn’t feel right.  He got criticized for it at times too.  If a guy doesn’t feel right, I would rather him tell the manager vs gut it out.

There's just something off about the guy. I can't put my finger on it but just not impressed with his presence on the mound.

He looks very nonchalant about everything. He kind of looks like he doesn't care, though I'm sure he does.

Just curious why the Orioles would start a former NL er  against a National League team.  San Diego and Colorado.  He must be known to some extent by them.

So if the O's make the World Series they shouldn't let Flaherty pitch?

He’s a west coast guy. Personality is just more laid back, which isn’t abnormal for west coast athletes. Doesn’t make him a bad guy or that he has a bad attitude or anything like that but hey, keep thinking you have a clue as to what is going on inside his head.

Threw a lot of strikes today..missed a lot of bats. Got unlucky with some of the hits.

Yeah, but towards the end of the game, he got real lazy, and was throwing like he didn’t give a s•••
