If Basallo is a catcher long term and Holliday is a 2B, then the conversation of who is the better prospect becomes less clear cut.

What is the ceiling for Basallo's bat?  It's too high for me to see right now.

Ah, but should eventual position affect prospect ranking if it’s not based on a lack of talent.  From all reports, Holliday can be at least an average ML SS.  Whether he plays there or not shouldn’t determine his prospect status.

Holliday is only a 2B because Gunnar exists. And for those who don't think Holliday can't hack it at SS, we thought the same thing about Gunnar. No doubt in my mind Holliday can improve defensively.

And the whole idea that Gunnar is some elite defensive SS is very overplayed on here.

You keep attributing statements to unknown, non existent factions on here.   Find ONE quote or poster who had described Henderson as an ELITE defender.

Now that it’s been brought up it depends which stat you like best OAA or DRS.  According to DRS, Henderson is a top 3-5 SS in baseball.

In 584 innings at SS Henderson had 10 DRS.

MLB leader Dansby Swanson had 18 in 1279 innings.  You do the math.

Not saying he is.

Never said you did..it was a general comment about how people overrate Gunnar’s defense at SS. Whether it’s here or social media, people talking about how he was robbed not getting considered for the GG, how you “can’t take him off SS” when his defense is this good, etc…

He is good over there, maybe even very good but he’s not GG/elite level and you can replace him especially if he’s even better at third, which he probably is/will be.
