Baseball America 10 players to watch in the Florida Complex League.

Joshua Liranzo, 3B, Orioles

It’s no secret that Baltimore’s system is loaded with prospects, especially at the upper levels. Liranzo, however, might be flying under the radar a little bit. The younger brother of Dodgers prospect Thayron Liranzo stands out for his excellent defense at third base, feel for the game and high baseball IQ. He showed power potential in the DSL last season as well, with six doubles and five home runs. Liranzo’s approach needs work, but he has the upside of a third baseman with skills on both sides of the ball.

Really excited about this guy. Hope he’s able to spend the second half of the year at Delmarva and be in position to start next year in Aberdeen.

That would put him ahead of the Basallo track at the same age.  Nothings impossible but that’s pretty crazy.    I hope he has a solid year in the FCL while being 17 the whole season.

@Tony-OH do we know anything about why Liranzo hasn’t played in a game at an affiliate this season? I haven’t seen anything indicating that he is injured. If Liranzo is not injured, it seems odd that he wouldn’t be playing given the positive press he has received here and elsewhere.

Not Tony, but he’s going to start out on one of the DSL teams again.  Was hoping maybe he’d start at FCL. Maybe he lights up DSL and only has a short stay in the Dominican?

Thanks. I thought he was ticketed for the FCL based on the preseason stuff I’d read, including the BA excerpt above. That explains it!

Not sure where @scarey1999 is getting his information but Liranzo is still listed on the FCL roster and Eric_Birdland on X who goes to a lot of FCL games and gets some decent information had video of Liranzo practicing a month ago and last week said he’d be back soon.

He's on the FCL roster but has been out with an ankle injury. He's expected to play this year in the FCL at some point. Unfortunately he's missed some PAs.

Apologies @SydnorI must have gotten bad info and didn’t verify further. Very glad to hear he is in fact stateside!

He’s baaaack.

DH for the FCL Orioles.  Walked his first time up.   The FCL Orioles have no other place for rehab games.  This is it!

Nice to see him getting live action. Ashamed he missed so much of the season. I'd love to see him do well and have them push him up to Delmarva for addition PAs that he lost out on, even if he struggles at that level.

Good idea.  Hopefully, he performs well enough in the FCL for them to consider it.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.
    • @Bahama O's Fanor a free trial of any streaming platform. YouTube TV, Directtv, etc.
    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
